Stitches of Time
by Melissa Rachel

Wounds of war
walk the pages
that we write,
and dreams
will never allow
them to fade.
The scars
are the memories
of how we marched
into unknown territory
to do what we thought
was right.
Pain of open wounds
and now closed scars
are the cries that we
keep inside.
Even if we return home,
these scars,
these wounds
are the lines of history
written on our skin,
and the world continues
into a war
with possibly no end.
